Interdisciplinary Studies Student Earns Prestigious Udall Scholarship

Caroline Hansley of Hendersonville, a junior majoring in interdisciplinary studies with a concentration in agroecology and social entrepreneurship, has received the prestigious Morris K. Udall Scholarship for the 2013-14 academic year.

Institute for Nonprofits Director Named Entrepreneur of the Year

NC State University's Office of Technology Transfer recently honored Mary Tschirhart as Entrepreneur of the Year. Professor Tschirhart was recognized for her contributions related to promoting social entrepreneurship and building a culture of entrepreneurship at NC State. She is director of NC State University’s Institute for Nonprofit Research, Education and Engagement and a professor of Public Administration.


Hope is Not Lost, It's Wearable

For pediatric cancer patients, hope is not lost. Student entrepreneur Jessica Ekstrom has founded Headbands of Hope to help fund cancer research and spread hope to all girls. For every headband purchased, one is given to a girl with cancer and $1 is donated to the St. Baldrick's Foundation to fund life-saving childhood cancer research.
