2011 Awards for Excellence
The college held its annual Awards of Excellence luncheon on April 20 to recognize and honor CHASS staff, whose efforts, competence, and enthusiasm for their work keep the college functioning.
Bob Kadle, Instructional Support Associate, received the CHASS SPA award for excellence. For nearly ten years, Bob has provided exceptional IT support to faculty and students in the six instructional computer labs in Tompkins Hall and in the walk-in computer lab. He recently took on four more instructional computer labs and three open-seating labs. In addition to his IT responsibilities, Bob serves as the Tompkins Hall building liaison. The contributions he makes on a daily basis affect all our students, staff, and faculty.
Other SPA nominees for the CHASS Award for Excellence were Michelle Branch, Receptionist, CHASS Dean’s Office; Shirley Jones, Student Services Assistant, Department of English; Lillie Kirby, Executive Assistant, School of Public and International Affairs; Susan Lisk, Bookkeeper and Accounting Technician, School of Public and International Affairs; Sonia Meeks, Administrative Support Associate, Department of English; and Kenneth Peters, Student Services Assistant, Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies.
Susan Gasman, Center for Family and Community Engagement, won the Award of Excellence for CHASS EPA employees. As the trainer and curriculum coordinator for CFFACE, Susan literally goes the distance with energy and drive. She travels across the entire state to train students, social services, schools, mental health providers, juvenile justice workers and community members as she provides a face to the statewide engagement mission of NC State University. Her nominators called Susan “an excellent ambassador to the community who knows how to listen for the unspoken, help others articulate their views, respond with sensitivity to underlying issues, and gently challenge others to grow as learners and practitioners. Her partnership in any endeavor provides a thoughtful and well crafted product that speaks highly of CFFACE, her peers, and NC State University. She is a bedrock of the CFFACE training and engagement program, firmly grounding us in the mission of our work.”
