What has been your favorite course so far?

ENG 214, Introduction to Editing, with Professor Cat Warren.  She was thorough and answered every question her students had.  The class offered very practical information for my major, which I use on a constant basis now.  She also took a personal interest, helping me to register for ENG 350, the English Internship course, even though I was a few credits shy of junior status.

What do you enjoy most about CHASS?

I have enjoyed making connections within the college to peers who share similar interests and are like-minded.  It is beneficial to be in a university with science and engineering students, but it is great to be among those who understand that I am always checking people’s grammar and that my favorite hobby is reading!

What has been your biggest challenge at NCSU?

I commute every day from Wake Forest, so I have to make an extra effort to stay involved on campus and immerse myself in the social activities.  I am not always on campus in the evenings, and I don’t eat in the residence halls, for example, so I must make the most of the hours that I am here.

What advice would you give incoming students?

Get involved right away.  I was a little shy and waited a full year before trying clubs and groups.  Don’t be afraid to talk to people you don’t know.  You are all sharing the same experience, and can find common ground.
