Doug Mattox, a local stamp and coin expert, owns Mattox Coins & Stamps, tucked into a quiet corner above the post office in Cameron Village on Oberlin Road. Mattox grew the business into a part-time affair during college, and once out of school with a bachelors degree in history from NC State, he went at it full time. Now his company generates $1.5 million in revenue.
