Doctoral Students Recognized by American Public Health Association

The American Public Health Association is recognizing two NC State doctoral students for their research in psychology. Ph.D. candidates Betty-Shannon Prevatt and Evan Lowder will receive separate awards at the APHA’s annual meeting this week in Denver.

Moms More Likely Than Dads to Favor Diverse, Neighborhood Schools

In the first empirical study on gender and school assignment, NC State researchers find that mothers are more likely than fathers to favor both school diversity and so-called neighborhood schools. The study also finds that mothers are more likely to be concerned about challenges, dangers and uncertainty related to school assignments.

Alum Jason Spells Has The Scoop on Sports in Indianapolis

For the past seven years, communication alumnus Jason Spells has been a television sports reporter in Indianapolis — first for WRTV, the city’s ABC affiliate. Now he is sports anchor and reporter for NBC affiliate WTHR, where he also hosts the sports magazine show, “The Sports Jam,” on Sunday nights.
