CWSP Workshop: Sandra Jamieson on The Citation Project
While the call for research-based and data-driven programs, pedagogy and policies has thankfully been heard in the field of Writing Studies, we still lack a universal agreement about what kind of data we want to see, how that data should be collected and evaluated, and how it might be interpreted and applied. We have also failed to embrace a culture of replication and aggregation of data. In this workshop I will draw on my experience as a principal investigator with the Citation Project to discuss the need for transcontextual and multi-site studies and the complexities of replication and aggregation. We will discuss some samples of student writing, data about that writing, and possible research projects that would expand and/or complicate existing research.
