Event Navigation

Join Professor Jason Miller as he speaks on the legacy of the recently unearthed 1962 speech that Martin Luther King, Jr. gave at a segregated high school in Rocky Mount, North Carolina nine months before his more famous “I Have a Dream” speech in Washington, D.C.

Recovered and remastered from a reel-to-reel tape, excerpts from the speech as well as letters of correspondence between King and poet Langston Hughes will contextualize Dr. King's use of poetry to move the nation.
