Postpartum Mood Disorder: Correlates, Service Utilization, Program Effectiveness

Betty-Shannon Prevatt presents findings from three dissertation manuscripts examining the role of lifetime substance use on postpartum mood disorders, factors associated with postpartum mood disorder treatment seeking, and the effectiveness of a peer-support group in reducing postpartum depression.
Betty-Shannon Prevatt is a clinical psychologist and doctoral candidate in the Applied Social and Behavioral Psychology program at NC State. She will graduate in May 2018 and plans to pursue a career in academia where she can balance her love for teaching and mentoring with her research on community-level interventions for postpartum mood disorders.
