The Language Diversity Ambassadors at NC State, in partnership with Dean Jeff Braden, will present “The Deaf Advantage: A Workshop on Deaf Culture and ASL” on Wednesday, April 10, from 6:45pm – 7:45pm in Caldwell Lounge. The workshop’s main focus will be on Deaf Culture and ASL, with special attention to re-conceptualizing deafness and addressing popularized myths and questions about ASL.
The workshop will be led by Dean Jeff Braden and Alison Eggerth. Dr. Braden, Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, is a graduate of Gallaudet University, the world’s only liberal arts university for deaf and hard of hearing students, and has been a certified sign language interpreter. Alison Eggerth is a linguistics graduate student with an undergraduate degree in ASL.
