NC State Students Report Food, Housing Insecurity
To better understand the extent of food and housing insecurity on campus, a group of NC State faculty and staff, along with national experts and local community leaders, recently conducted a student survey and a review of support programs and services offered at NC State and on campuses across the country.
What Children Understand About Food Insecurity
Researchers have begun asking children about their households’ lack of food—and making surprising discoveries. NC State University sociologist Sarah Bowen, who just concluded a five-year study funded by the USDA and is currently analyzing the data, interviewed 81 subjects aged 7 to 13 about their coping strategies.
